Children really enjoy to learn about new things and in different ways - to do something different to their usual daily routine. This is also learning with a real purpose and the pupils develop so many skills - working cooperatively, working in a cross-curricular way, research using both books and the ‘internet’ and so on.
This kind of ‘Festival’ works best when a school can devote several days to it - perhaps the last week of a school Year, so that children and teachers can really become immersed in working together.
Festivals are a great way to bring the whole school together - children, teachers, everyone, else, who works in the school, parents, the local community and with so many other possibilities.
